Reference Librarian
Brock University, 1989 - present

Responsible for providing reference service to students, faculty and other library users by assisting them with their information requirements from a wide variety of print and electronic sources.  Special subject areas: Sociology, Physical Education/Sport Management, Recreation and Leisure/Tourism, Community Health Sciences/Nursing. In depth reference service, formal library instruction, and collection development duties in these areas are provided. Web instruction tutorials are being developed for courses in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences.

Planned, implemented, monitored a full-range of library reference services for professional staff including ILL, Circulation, Reference and Online Services.

National Library Service, Papua New Guinea, 1977 - 1978

Managed the Public Library Service for the entire country’s public libraries (19 branches) as part of the National Library Service, through a C.U.S.O. placement.  Services included all library operations from acquisitions, processing, cataloguing, circulation, programming, and public services and substantial budget administration.

Managed  full special library services for a large chemical company.  Services included all technical and reference services, including the implementation of an online catalogue and online reference services.

Markham Public Library, 1985 - 1988

Managed all technical services functions, including the planning, implementation, and monitoring of a large co-operative online catalogue (GEAC) in conjunction with other libraries in the Region of York.  Assisted in the planning for online services and other reference services for the library system.  Administered the ILL department (part of technical services).  Served on various internal and external library committees.  Integral member of Senior Management.  Attended Library Board Meetings as senior library staff.  Part of management team in C.U.P.E. library negotiations.
