Brock University, in majority partnership with Trent University and McMaster University, operates a study year in Freiburg, Germany. The three partner institutions in rotation select a Resident Director to live and teach in Freiburg for one year with a contingency of Canadian students. Every second year, a colleague from the Department of Germanic and Slavic Studies will be on site in southern Germany; every fourth year, a colleague from Trent or McMaster will be designated.
Studies in Freiburg consist of two streams: in the first semester, students will pursue Brock courses under the tutelage of the Resident Director. In the second semester, they are encouraged to enrol in courses at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, in stream with regular German students.
